£90 – £110 per day (depending on experience)

Are you from a sports, coaching, or fitness background and looking to make a real impact in a school setting?

We are currently recruiting for a Sports-Based Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive and inclusive primary/secondary school in Hackney / Islington. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for working with young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role:

• Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Working with children with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs
• Using sport and physical activity as a tool to engage and motivate students
• Assisting the class teacher with behaviour management and lesson support
• Promoting positive behaviour, confidence, and emotional regulation
• Supporting both inside the classroom and during outdoor/PE sessions

The Ideal Candidate:

• Background in sports, coaching, personal training, or fitness
• Experience working with children or young people (school, coaching, mentoring, etc.)
• Strong behaviour management and ability to build rapport
• Energetic, resilient, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
• Passionate about supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs
• A team player with a proactive attitude

Requirements:

• Minimum 6 months experience working with children or young people
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
• Good level of spoken English
