Gas Services
A Snapshot of Your Day
Siemens Energy is looking to add a Robotics Development Engineer to our tooling development team at the Pittsburgh Service Center. As part of this team, your workday will mirror the fluid dynamic of our operations where the focus of the business needs determines daily priorities. You may be working through coding a process for an upcoming inspection in an office environment or working with a team testing out an inspection sequence in our workshop. You will have the opportunity to integrate with different teams to apply robotics to new and unconventional situations related to service on power generation equipment!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design, develop, and optimize motion planning algorithms and software systems for complex robotic platforms, ensuring high performance and reliability as related to service applications for machining, welding, and inspections.
- Responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance.
- Integrate robotic components and sensors with ultrasonic testing systems.
- Develop and implement advanced control algorithms for robotic systems.
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
What You Bring
- BS (MS/PhD a plus) in Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field. 3+ years of related work experience in robotics.
- Programming skills in any of C/C++ or C# software, Python development, G-Code and CAM programming along with software configuration management tools (Git).
- Troubleshoot electronics and mechanical components with hands-on skills!
- Ability to work cross functionally with mechanical engineering and understanding kinematics in robotic arm system engineering and mechanical designs.
- Experience using CAD software for part modeling, analysis, and development.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
