    About the Role:We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Commercial to join our client’s team on a freelance basis to lead the commercial department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the civils and water or utilities sectors. This role is based in one of our midland-based offices and offers the opportunity to lead commercial strategies and operations within a fast-paced and innovative environment.
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement commercial strategies in alignment with company goals and objectives.
    • Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and compliance with industry standards.
    • Manage and optimise the commercial performance of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
    • Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring robust risk management practices are in place.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners.
    • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards within the civils and water/utilities sectors.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Proven experience in a senior commercial role within the civils and water or utilities sectors.
    • Strong understanding of commercial management principles and practices.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
    • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Relevant degree or professional qualification in business, engineering, or a related field.

    What We Offer:

    • £750 – £1000 per day (higher for exceptional candidates)
