Nuclear Safety Engineer – (HAZOP / FMEA / SWIFT

Our client is a leading engineering consultancy working across a number of sectors including; Nuclear, Defence and Chemical.
Your new role
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the production of safety assurance deliverables during design, construction, operation, and decommissioning phases.
- Support clients in managing nuclear safety and ensuring compliance with Site Licence Conditions.
- Develop and author safety cases, including Safety Justification Plans (SJP), Pre-Construction Safety Reports (PCSR), Pre-Commissioning Safety Reports (PCmSR), and Periodic Safety Reviews (PRS).
- Handle modification and design change submissions (LC/AC 22).
- Conduct functional safety assessments and interface with regulatory bodies for Generic Design Assessments (GDA).
- Perform availability, reliability, and maintainability (ARM) analyses.
- Conduct system safety, ALARP, and risk assessments.
- Engage in deterministic and probabilistic safety assessments.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety legislation, regulation, and policy.
- Perform engineering substantiation, HAZOP, HAZAN, criticality, and nuclear fire assessments.
What you’ll need to succeed
- A background & experience in nuclear safety in any one of the following areas
- Hazard identification (HAZOP / FMEA / SWIFT and similar techniques)
- Fault analyses (fault schedules, transient or radiological analyses)
- Internal and / or external hazards – characterisation of the hazard, development of appropriate lines of defence and their justification.
- Structural integrity safety case – especially for higher safety significance items (High Integrity / Incredibility of Failure)
- Experience working with design teams on new build projects or significant modifications including optioneering processes.
- Experience producing and verifying safety documentation
