Purpose of the Job: As a member of the Engineering team, reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader, this role holder is responsible for delivering a service that provides a safe, reliable plant achieving production and quality targets. Available for reasonable levels of overtime and call-outs to maximise plant availability. Principal Accountabilities:
Working as an individual or part of a team maintains continuous plant and equipment to specified safety, quality, environmental and reliability standards following SHE procedures, SWP’s and permits to work, with minimum supervision.
Able to scope, identify and purchase materials needed to carry out required work and ensures all work is controlled and documented in SAP
Helps to identify the root cause of equipment failure using a 5Y process and proposes solutions
Works with and supervises contractors during maintenance operations
Demonstrates proficiency in all specified core SWP’s and assists in the development of them and contributes to the ongoing continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and systems.
Ensure housekeeping standards in the workshop and out of the plant are maintained and report any incidents (safety, quality & environmental) to minimise the risk of recurrence
Qualifies as Work Competent Person, Person In Charge of Work and Responsible Person for Isolations, at times leading small groups of contactors around specific work activities
Actively participate in the call-out rota
Candidate Requirements:
A time served tradesperson with a recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship
HNC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Experience of competently maintaining rotating equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, fans and with the ability to understand the maintenance requirements for specialised Lyocell equipment
Demonstrate experience of working to safe systems of work, including creating risk assessments and implementing hazard control
Able to work to timescales with a flexible approach and provide effective communication at all levels
Self-motivated with a collaborative One Team approach, one who is able to work unsupervised or as part of a team and accountable for own performance
Must have a positive can-do attitude, be driven, responsible, adaptable, collaborative, communicative, ethical, honest, organised. Must be willing to work in a flexible manner and adopt new practices.
Fork Lift Truck licence is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
