    Income Officer – 4-Month Contract

    Hays are proud to be working with a Local Authority in the Norwich area to bring you this temporary contract for an Income Officer. This role will be to cover a member of staff that has moved department on secondment and is due to finish at the end of November.
    The salary for the role ranges from £27,334 – £30,296 (pro rata) depending on your experience. This role will operate on a hybrid basis with the ability to work from home three days a week after 1-2 weeks of office-based work.
    The Responsibilities

  • To collect low level rent arrears.
  • To make contact with tenants via the phone/email/text with the aim of getting a payment and/or making a repayment arrangement.
  • Dealing with potentially vulnerable people with multiple complex issues.
  • There is the potential for hybrid working once trained.
  • Essential.

  • Experience of dealing with the public.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Good communication skills, the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • The ability to pick up quickly and use multiple IT systems.
  • Be resilient.
  • The ability to multitask.
  • Organised and enjoys process-driven work.
  • Team player.
  • Desirable

  • Debt recovery experience with individuals, not companies or businesses.
  • Experience of dealing with the public either for a local authority or housing association.
  • Experience of negotiating repayment arrangements taking into account individual circumstances – finances, vulnerabilities, debts etc.
  • Some knowledge or awareness of welfare benefits.
  • Some experience of giving simple budgeting advice.
  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience of dealing with customers face to face.
  • Not required unless you meet some of the above criteria.

    • Credit controllers unless you meet some of the above criteria.
    • Accountants/Finance Officers unless you meet some of the above criteria
