    About LSMU

London Metropolitan Students Union’ is an independent, registered charity committed to enhancing the student experience at London Metropolitan University.

We see our new trustees at the forefront of designing our new strategy as we embark on our next exciting chapter to fulfil our vision of creating a connected community where all students, regardless of background, receive the highest quality and transformative experience.

We’re seeking individuals who share our values and can share both their professional expertise and strategic vision to help us redefine the future of our students’ union.

We are delighted to be inviting applications for candidates to fill 3 Trustee positions with expertise in Finance, HR and someone to chair our board.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic oversight in finance or HR. Challenge and guide our elected officers and CEO. Build strong relationships within the board and the wider LMSU community. Ensure the Board works together with officers and staff to prioritise students’ belonging, wellbeing, and success in everything we do.

    Who Are We Looking For?

    • People with the skills, experience and capability to oversee finance or HR at a strategic level. People who resonate with our values and are eager to make a tangible difference. Collaborative team players who can commit to collective leadership and can build and nurture strong relationships. For our new chair, someone who can lead the board, set strategic direction and hold the CEO accountable for the delivery of the Union’s goals.

Our Commitment to Diversifying our Board

In order for us to be able to make sure every student is able to celebrate who they are, shape their university experience and feel connected to a community, we need to continue to innovate and make sure we champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in everything that we do. This means having a commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive Trustee Board.

We would particularly welcome applications from Black and Asian candidates, those who identify as women or non-binary, and disabled candidates, in order to improve representation of these groups on our Board.

We are committed to ensuring that people with a diverse range of skills and experience are encouraged to apply and contribute fully as Trustees. We will strive to remove the barriers that prevent people from applying to become Trustees and ensure that our application and selection processes are inclusive of and accessible to people with a wide range of skills and lived experience.

We also welcome candidates from outside of London, who may claim reasonable travel expenses for attendance to Board meetings which take place 4 times a year.
