A Snapshot of Your Day
Siemens Energy is looking to add a Tooling Development Engineer to our tooling development team at the Pittsburgh Service Center! As part of this team, your workday will mirror the fluid dynamic of our operations where the focus of the business needs determines daily priorities. You may be working through designing a robotic crawler for an upcoming inspection in an office environment or working with a team testing out an inspection sequence in our workshop. You will have the opportunity to integrate with different disciplines to apply integrated mechanical and electronic systems to new and unconventional situations related to service on power generation equipment.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design, develop, and optimize integrated mechanical/electrical systems related to service inspection applications.
- Responsible for overseeing task distribution and tracking of progress for a small team of electronic technicians.
- Integrate system components such as cameras, motors, and sensors into a fully designed system.
- Develop and update operating procedures as requested as part of lessons learned and tooling development.
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
What You Bring
- BS/MS/PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Physics or a related field. 3+ years of related work experience.
- Troubleshoot electronics and mechanical components with hands-on skills.
- Requires the ability to collaborate with project stakeholders during development of project requirements, through prototype testing and commercialization.
- Experience using CAD software for part modeling, analysis, and development.
- Experience and ability to create electric and electronic wiring schematics.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
