The Data Modelling Specialist designs fit-for-purpose conceptual, logical, and physical data models in-line with business requirements to serve analytical, business intelligence, and operational use cases primarily within the data platform.
Collaborate in the development of a Data Modelling centre of excellence.
Collaborate in the definition, dissemination, and execution of Data Modelling Framework and architecture.
Provide support and advice on best practices and way of working for federated modelling teams in high-pressure environments.
Provide ad hoc deep dive support to remove modelling bottlenecks and accelerate team delivery.
Support various data modelling activities (e.g., CDM, LBM, PDM) and integrate metadata.
Support Data Enablement Services goals and activities.
Establish close collaboration with architecture and engineering functions.
Ensure Enterprise Data Model target/common and drive clarity on Business Domains/Data Domains definitions and agreements.
Lead the modelling pipeline code QA/recommendations and define a common function library for pipelines (e.g., MOL calcs).
Coordinate with product/programme/squad leads to ensure strict methods are followed and stage gates are met and report upwards on PMO/Command Control across DM activities in programmes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Solid understanding of databases, platforms, and technologies.
Experience working with analytics tools and making data-driven decisions.
Experience working within an Agile framework.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into data models.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
Demonstrate an understanding of data modelling principles and familiarity with processes, policies, and any of the key data modelling tools.
Experience in engaging with both Business and IT stakeholders to document business outcomes and objectives for programmes.
Ability to support data management goals and activities.
Proven ability to establish close collaboration with architecture and engineering functions.
Technical skills
Entity relationship, dimensional, and NOSQL modelling as appropriate to data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytical approaches using IE or other common notations.
SQL, DDL, DML, and Pyspark scripting
ERWIN, and Visio data modelling/UML tool
Ideally, Azure Data Factory, Azure Dev Ops, and Databricks
