Rising British pop star Samira is back with her first release of the year – ‘Valentine’s Day (I Ain’t Got Time For That)’:
The punchy anthem marks an unapologetic new chapter for the emerging South London singer-songwriter, who has been honing her craft in the studio with pop hitmakers behind Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran.
Written on Valentine’s Day last year, the track details the spectacular ghosting that led to Samira’s real-life break up and how she found herself spending the big day in the studio instead of being wined and dined!
Samira said: “I wrote this last year after I got spectacularly ghosted by a fitness influencer (ick!) I was dating, and then I had to wait a whole year until the big date rolled around again so I could spill the tea and get my revenge! The lyrics are sassy and lots of fun, but it’s also a bit of a reminder to prioritise your self-care, my darlings. I can’t wait for you to hear what else I have been cooking up in the studio for 2025.”
‘Valentine’s Day (I Ain’t Got Time For That)’ was co-written by Samira with rising producer Jonny Parry and mixed by GRAMMY-winning US mix engineer Jeff Sojka, whose credits include Armin Van Buuren and K-pop megastars Monsta X.
Following the release of her debut EP “Dancefloors & Drama Vol. 1”, Samira spent the majority of 2024 in the studio working on the follow-up with some of the industry’s most exciting names in UK dance, electronic and pop.
She dropped a taste of her experimentations last summer with the emotive, DnB infused track ‘See Through You’. In between writing sessions, Samira also shot her first film acting role in the upcoming indie horror, Bambi: The Reckoning, due for release this year.
The string of singles she has released have showcased her undeniable ability to spin bittersweet experiences into solid pop bangers, garnering buzz and press support from BBC Radio 1 Future Pop, MTV UK, Billboard, NME Best New Bangers, and CLASH.
Further to writing with renowned pop songwriters and producers like Cutfather (Kylie Minogue) and Kal Lavelle (Ed Sheeran), Samira continues to keep her footing in the fast-paced UK dance music scene. Her collaboration with WDC on the club remake of ‘I Love Your Smile’ earned Samira the first of her three UK Top 5 Club Chart placements. She also teamed up with in-demand British DJ ESSEL for the infectious ‘Where My Girls At’.
