ibis hotels team up day-festivals this summer to offer discounted rooms to those wanting the cleanliness and comfort of a hotel room post-festival

New research reveals that Millennials are reluctant to ‘slum it’ at festivals and are being put off by a lack of everyday essentials such as warm showers, clean toilets and a comfortable bed.

  • Clean toilets, showers and comfy beds are the things Gen Y miss most when it comes to festival-going.
  • The average camper gets just over four hours sleep a night thanks to nuisance neighbours.
  • A quarter of Millennials are concerned over leaving their tent unguarded.

A poll of festival-goers aged 18 to 35 by ibis hotels found that over a third (38%) of Generation Y have avoided going to a festival because they’d miss their home comforts. More than half (59%) admitted to being less tolerant of festival conditions as they get older.

Overall, a third (38%) said they found the state of the portable toilets off-putting (the biggest turn off), while a lack of good showers (27%), muddy fields (26%) and expensive food options (29%) were also concerns for live music lovers. Safety risks also leave Millennials feeling uneasy, with a quarter (28.9%) worried about leaving their tent unguarded.

Personal hygiene might have been alarming for some, but over two thirds (71%) have admitted to cleaning themselves with wet wipes during a festival, with a quarter (27%) simply using deodorant to freshen up.

The average festival-goer gets just over 4 hours sleep a night, 4 hours and 15 minutes on average, with noisy neighbours as the main annoyance not allowing them to get some much-valued shut eye.

To make sure festival-goers can enjoy all the fun of this Summers hottest line up with the home comforts, selected ibis hotels in London are offering up to 25% off to attendees of ONBlackheath London 8th – 9th September.

In addition, some brilliant offers will be available, including, an early check in and late check-out, discounted rates and some delicious food and drink offers. Guests are required to contact the hotels directly to take advantage of this element.

James Wheatcroft, Vice President Marketing, Accorhotels said: “Enjoying live music doesn’t necessarily mean you want to rough it for days on end. At ibis, we’re offering discounts, early check-ins and late check-outs, as well as clean showers and toilets to enhance guests’ festival experience this summer.”
