Cobra Kai Fans have been patiently awaiting the sixth and final season of Netflixes’ Cobra Kai. Which is currently filming in Atlanta, with a scheduled finish around end of May/Early June. It’s the “biggest and baddest season” yet so filming will be the longest it’s ever been. The recent trailer announcement by the cast of the show has hyped up the fans for what’s to come in Cobra Kai Season 6. Some hints at the show exploring more of the roots of Cobra Kai’s origin through the Way of The Fist Master Kim Sun-Yung.
It was recently announced he will be played by C.S. Lee, who’s lately in the new Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix series. The world tournament will be a big focus for the upcoming season of Cobra Kai. It’ll certainly bring together all the best karate students in the Valley and test them for what’s to come… as Cobra Kai Co-Creator Hayden Schlossberg teased a while ago on Twitter.
The Evolution of the Film Industry moving into 2024
As 2023 was the year of the Hollywood strikes, the conclusion with the SAG strike in November 2023, the film industry has been busier than ever. The scope of the industry has been unified by the unions coming together to seek better treatment of all crew involved in production, so their legacy positively impacts the future of the film and tv industry. For newcomers coming into the industry it’s been a very mixed bag. They hope that it will benefit there future and be able to focus on work rather than all the craziness that comes from the unions. Each union has become stronger together since the strikes ended.
As SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher consciously made a point of highlighting during their speech at the SAG Awards. “Thank you so much. I want to gratefully acknowledge the WGA, the DGA, IATSE, AFM, Teamsters and Basic Crafts for helping make this night a success. Thank you to the hardest-working guy in show business, our SAG-AFTRA executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. And especially a big thanks to Netflix for inviting the SAG Awards to their platform, so this event can be viewed all over the world including my parents’ condo in South Florida. But most important, congratulations to all the members, both here today and everywhere. I hold you all with the highest esteem and greatest respect, for you are the champions. You survived the longest strike in our union’s history with courage and conviction. The journey was arduous. It came with great sacrifice and unrelenting stress, your collective dignity and perseverance to stand up and say, ‘We deserve better because we are better’ resulted in a historic billion-dollar deal.”
What impacted many 2024 film releases will now be the rebound year we see more productions being filmed. Were in the middle of a busy awards season which film enthusiasts have shared there reactions to. For many nerds it’s a big one for Marvel and DC, as both studios have several big projects coming soon for there 2025 film slates. This week on 23rd Feb, James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy’ film will begin filming. Sebastian Stan made it clear during an interview that Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts movie will begin filming this coming week.
What Atlanta Taught Me!
During early February, I was in Atlanta whilst Cobra Kai Season 6 has been filming. I was hosting my first ever in-person panel at the ATL Comic Convention 2024 for the Cobra Kai Celebrity Panel! It was such a great panel, so much fun to share the moments with Peyton List, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo and Joe Seo from Netflix’s Cobra Kai! This comic con is so great and I think if you’re a Cobra Kai fan it’s extra special with the unique fan base that is has there. Also on my visit I met one of the Co-creators of Cobra Kai, Jon Hurwitz! It was personally such an amazing experience and really a full circle story that I’d love to share with you all. We’ll be sure to dwell more into this amazing experience in the next issue!
