The Windsor knot is named after our most famous patron, the Duke of Windsor, as he opted to tie his knot in a manner that was wide and triangular. Best worn with a Windsor collar, the Windsor knot is considered to be more comfortable and relaxed than other knots and will hold a tie firmly in place while still keeping space between the collar and neck.
STEP 1
Place the tie around your neck and allow the wide end of the tie to extend approximately 12 inches lower than the narrow end.
STEP 2
Cross the wide end of the tie over the narrow end and bring it up through the loop.
STEP 3
Carry the wide end down, around and behind the narrow end and up on your right.
STEP 4
Then pull it through the loop and around across the narrow end.
STEP 5
Turn and pass the wide end up through the loop.
STEP 6
Finally complete the knot by slipping the wide end through the loop that you created. Tighten the knot and draw it up snuggly to the collar.
