Hays are partnering with one of the UK and Ireland’s leading merchants as we wish to recruit an Accounts Technician/ Part Qualified Accountant based at our Head Office in Newry. This is an ideal opportunity for a recently qualified Accounts Technician or PQ Accountant looking to learn and develop new skills that will equip them for a career in finance.
Your new role
As Accounts Technician, you will report in to the company accountant and be responsible for:
Assistance with preparation of monthly management accounts and related reports
Administration of general ledger including reconciliation of ledger accounts
Administration and reconciliation of bank accounts
Assistance with maintenance of fixed asset register
Assistance with preparation of VAT returns and related reporting
Support the Company’s annual financial budget process
Assistance with completion of insurance declarations, DETI returns and other legislative returns during the financial year
The reconciliation and analysis of other major balance sheet accounts
Assistance with other financial duties as required
Providing cover for other roles in the department as and when required
What you’ll need to succeed
Essential:
• Confident communicator
• Self-motivated
• Team player
• A broad business and commercial acumen
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a finance department
• Experience of assisting with the production of management accounts
• Experience of general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation
• Experience of managing company bank accounts including reconciliation and balance sheet reporting
• Experience of Microsoft products, particularly Excel spread sheets
Desirable:
• Experienced Accounting Technician (ATT) or Part qualified accountant (by exam or experience)
• Experience of operating within the general construction industry
• Experience of operating in a multi-site operation
• High level of expertise in using Microsoft Excel
• Experience of a fully integrated IT system
