Infrastructure Engineer- Backup Operations – Networker Backup

Our client, a global technology organisation, is looking to recruit the services of an experienced Infrastructure Engineering Professional on a contract basis to be based in Sheffield. The post holder will be required to join their Backup Operations team within their Cloud Services operations, and will play a key role in managing and supporting our client’s internal IT backup estate, ensuring operational excellence and contributing to the design and development of technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide operational support for backup systems, including Networker Backup, Data Domain, and tape.
• Maintain and follow operational procedures, including out-of-hours support and on-call duties.
• Conduct technical peer reviews and deep-dive analysis to resolve issues.
• Design and develop components of technical solutions aligned with our client’s architecture and security standards.
• Collaborate with teams to identify improvements and contribute to our client’s technology roadmap.

Required skills and experience:

• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery principles.
• Hands-on experience with Networker Backup, Linux/Windows OS, and backup targets.
• Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to work across teams and apply systems thinking.
• Experience in technology design and delivering results under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
