Hays Accountancy are delighted to be partnering with a family owned manufacturing SME in Grimsby who are currently going through a sustained period of growth which has led to the vacancy for a Commercial Accountant on a permanent basis.
Your new role
As a key addition to the expanding commercial team, the Commercial Accountant will play an integral role in supporting the business’s continued growth. Reporting directly to the Commercial Controller, this dynamic role involves close collaboration with sales, purchasing, and the operations team, using developed cost structures to support quoting processes for both new and existing customers. You will play a crucial part of driving profitability by providing cost mitigation options and regularly reviewing performance to highlight areas of concern and opportunity. You will also support forecasts, offer insights into market segments and pricing strategies, and assist with the roll-out of the company’s new ERP system through the development of business reports, KPI’s and dashboards.
Key responsibilities include;
- Working closely with the sales, purchasing and operations team on the quoting of products for new and existing customers using a developed cost structure
- Proactive approach in proving cost mitigation options for current customers to enhance customer value and loyalty, reviews of standard profit, current profit & future profit and highlighting areas of concern and opportunities for the senior leadership team and directors
- Support the commercial controller in forecasts used across the business
- Monitor and analyse performance to increase sales and improve profitability
- Provide commercial insight on the market as well as pricing strategy and competitor activity
- Assist in development of new business reports, KPI’s and dashboards across multiple departments as part of the roll-out of the new ERP system
- Work on change projects and scenario planning to enable the continued commercial expansion of the business
- Assist with stock control management, planning and costing
- Uploading of new and maintenance of existing product listings on the companies’ ERP system
What you’ll need to succeed
- Experience of reviewing and analysing costs, trends, profitability, margins, estimates and contracts
- Ability to liaise with all aspects of the business with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to do multitasks and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong Excel knowledge around formulas, pivot tables & lookups
- Candidates studying or looking to study AAT, CIMA or ACCA will be encouraged and supported as part of long term development.
