Our client, a UK-regulated international bank is seeking an experienced Relationship Manager – Commercial Real Estate to join its London-based corporate lending platform. The role focuses on originating, structuring, and managing UK commercial real estate and loan-against-property / BTL transactions, with full end-to-end ownership of client relationships. This is a front-office lending role offering genuine autonomy, supported by a well-resourced credit, risk, legal, and operations infrastructure.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of UK CRE and asset-backed lending clients, ensuring high-quality origination, disciplined credit execution, and ongoing portfolio performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Origination of Commercial Real Estate / BTL transactions via direct sourcing, internal referrals, brokers, and professional intermediaries.
  • Full credit ownership, including writing credit papers, coordinating with Risk, and presenting to Credit / Executive Committees.
  • Managing transactions from approval through to drawdown, liaising with solicitors, valuers, operations, and internal stakeholders
  • Ongoing portfolio management, covenant monitoring, reporting, and proactive risk management
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, valuers, solicitors, and professional introducers
  • Identifying opportunities for cross-selling relevant banking products and services
  • Ensuring all activity complies with internal policy, regulatory standards, and conduct risk expectations

Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years’ experience in UK Commercial Real Estate or asset-backed lending
  • Strong track record in origination, credit underwriting, and portfolio management
  • Sound understanding of UK property valuation, legal due diligence, and documentation.
  • Experience working with broker channels and professional intermediaries
  • Confident writing and presenting credit applications.
  • Commercial mindset with disciplined risk judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
