One focus area of the Amazonconstruction health & safety (H&S) mission is to providethe resource, tools and an environment that supports and advocatessafe, efficient and healthy behaviors and encourage the proactivemanagement of health, safety and well-being. This individual willplay a critical role to ensure high standards of safety are appliedacross all construction projects in the European, Middle East andAfrica (EMEA) regions to help establish expectations to manageH&S compliance within existing polices, procedures andcontractual agreements.
We are seeking tostrengthen our team of Construction Health & Safety Managers tosupport the execution of our growing Construction Safety Management(SMS) program. This role will include safety training coordinationand the management of external H&S consultantappointments.
The successful candidate willsupport the delivery of central H&S pro-active objectives andbe responsible for advocating the implementation of the SMS.
The role will require knowledge of Europeanand Middle Eastern construction safety standards to meet countryspecific H&S compliance. Emphasis will be on having therequisite safety qualifications, experienced in construction safetymanagement and first principles, basic construction knowledge andthe ability to engage with cross functional teams and externalconsultancies, transforming this knowledge into compliant processesfor the GES network within EMEA.
Theindividual will provide a functional working link to criticalcustomers such as: Technical Vendor Management and Procurement,Design & Construction, Operations Engineering andStart-up/Launch.
The successful candidatewill report directly to the GES EU H&S Field Team Lead.
This role could be based in other locationswithin EMEA. Would you like an opportunity to travel and work inmultiple countries and cultures? This role will be based in EU andis expected to spend up to 20% of their time travelingdomestically.
Key jobresponsibilities
The extent of your duties will include:
• Support GES Project Operational Leads with thefollow-up of serious incidents and near misses.
• Plannedand reactive safety assurance site visits to advise, guide andsupport project operational leads & external vendors on mattersrelated to construction safety.
• Prepare, host and/orsupport weekly, monthly and quarterly business reviews related toconstruction safety.
• Engage with GES ProjectOperational Leads and internal stakeholders to provide H&Sfield support, as required.
• Participate in project teammeetings and provide regular on-site project presence on demand.
• Ensure a data-oriented assistance approach throughoutthe overall project lifecycle to provide operational project leadswith support on improving the safety culture within theirrespective projects.
BASICQUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree or equivalentqualification related to Construction Health andSafety;
• Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level orequivalent;
• Experience in managing construction safetyacross large multi-site businesses;
• Credibility and beable to effectively engage and influence other functional leadersand their teams, to build buy-in to EU Health and Safety strategiesand change processes;
• Experienced in operatingthroughout all stages of the construction lifecycle;
•Proficient in the implementation of Safety Management Systems andsafety reporting;
• Proficient in the use of MicrosoftOffice and other computer-based tools to support system engineeringand briefing/proposal development activities.
• Projectmanagement qualification / skills.
• English verbal andwritten communication skills.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS • Experienced in behavioral safetyapproaches;
• Experienced in interacting with crossfunctional teams and managing projects with minimalsupervision;
• Country specific H&S legal awareness,such as French, Spanish and Italian;
• Germany, French,Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are consideredpreferred qualifications
