Role: Database Administrator (DBA)
Salary: Flexible + Bonus + occasional out of hours
Location: Remote, UK only
The business:
An opportunity working for a globally recognised brand, multi-£billion in revenues with over 10000 employees spread across the globe.
Despite being a larger enterprise, they are still privately owned and are undergoing significant transformative work across their Technology estate, this includes a plan to also leverage cloud (AWS) technologies to future proof the business.
The role:
Working as part of a small team of fellow DBAs with the aim of ensuring the performance, integrity and security of their large database estate. Collaborating very closely with wider Engineering and QA teams, as well as Infrastructure and Operations. The DBA’s cover both production and non-production.
This role will be working with a mixed Database estate, utilising technologies such as SQL, SQL Anywhere and Sybase. Candidates must have the interest in also moving over to new technologies, such as AWS.
Role includes:
- Monitoring performance of the databases across the organisation
- Developing and further maintaining the database estate
- Planning and subsequently implementing database upgrades, migrations and configuration
- Optimising SQL code where appropriate
- Troubleshooting and resolving DB performance and security issues
- Any training on newer technologies will be supported
Skills and experience:
- Experience as a SQL DBA, or will consider Sybase, SQL Anywhere DBAs
- Past history of operating at DBA, or Senior Level within a reputable organisation
- Experience across both prod & non-prod environments
Beneficial experience:
- Any experience / exposure to legacy databases such as Sybase
- Any experience with AWS, or Aurora
