Design Coordinator – Renowned Fit-Out Contractor – County Antrim

    Your new company

Hays are delighted to be working with one of Northern Ireland’s most successful fit-out and specialist joinery contractors as they seek a Design Coordinator to join their established, in-house design team. Over the last 40 years, they have built up their reputation as one of the industry’s leading fit out companies, specialising in cruise ships, hotel fit outs, stadiums and arenas, super yachts and luxury residential fit out projects both locally and internationally. This position should particularly appeal to those looking for a stepping-stone to design management in a structured, supported environment, based on eye-catching and complex projects. Particularly, those with experience of taking works from RIBA stages 4 onwards would be particularly suited. So, whether you’re working in the fit-out sector currently and feeling stifled, or Architectural Practice / Consultancy and looking for an upward trajectory – this is the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

    Your new role

Your responsibilities will be wide-ranging, but central functions will include managing the projects’ design development in collaboration with the operational team, the client and the organisation’s Architectural consultant. You’ll monitor and project design costs against budget allowances on all works. Providing design advice (for example on building regulations, fire protection, specification alternatives etc.), you’ll also ensure the design team under your remit produce associated drawings accurately, efficiently and in accordance with programme. Chairing design meetings, you’ll proactively resolve design issues and maintain the golder thread of communication through project lifecycle.

    What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll be a project leader with a background in Architectural Design or indeed construction. Specific experience within the fit-out sector would be ideal, but you should have demonstrable knowledge of bringing projects from RIBA stage 4 onwards for design & build contracts, and have some familiarity with BIM processes. Wider abilities should include working in a fast-paced, time-constrained environment, being a team player as well as a capable independent worker. People management, communication and ‘outside the box’ thinking will put you at a distinct advantage.

    What you’ll get in return

A full-time position with a household name contractor specialising in high-end and luxury fit out across Northern Ireland, United Kingdom and further afield. With a remuneration package to reflect your experience, additional benefits including hefty holiday allowance, Life Assurance, Enhanced pension, Health Cash plan, length of service award, flexible working scheme and more. Feedback from staff has been glowing in terms of working environment, and there is a general consensu that this organisation’s design team feel like a collective. So if you’re looking for a positive career step, apply now to hear more.
