Estates Technician (Band 5)

Location: Mid & South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (multiple sites)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £38,682 – £46,580

Oncall: 1 in 4

We are assisting a large NHS Trust in Essex with the recruitment of a permanent Estates Technician (Band 5). The successful candidate will be a skilled Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with strong experience in building services, ideally gained within a healthcare or similarly complex environment.

Key responsibilities:

– Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive work, and minor capital tasks.

– Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical and electrical building services systems.

– Respond promptly to emergencies and urgent incidents.

– Liaise with contractors and clinical teams to ensure safe system operation.

– Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and Trust policies.

– Provide technical advice and support to colleagues.

What we’re looking for:

– Completed apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.

– Relevant City & Guilds qualification.

– Experience in building services maintenance.

– Strong communication, analytical and technical skills.
