Objective of role
Are you a talented, motivated, and enthusiastic accountant with experience of working in Local Government? This role will provide you with the opportunity to take responsibility for leading our Finance Management team to deliver a high quality and responsive finance business partnering service to the Adult Social Care and Public Health directorate.
This is a great opportunity for a collaborative, experienced Local Authority finance professional and preferably Adult Social Care experience, to join our team and help take our support service to the next level.
Working to the Assistant Director of Finance – Adult Social Care and Public Health you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the finance business partnering offer to the directorate. You will support our staff to adapt and make the continuous improvements needed to transform Adult Social Care, working collaboratively to deliver high quality finance information supporting the directorate achieve the efficiencies needed to enable our services to flourish.
You will be joining a supportive team with a commitment to striving to provide the highest quality of service at the lowest attainable cost.
About the role
Leadership and Management
: You will lead by example and manage the Financial Management team within the Adult Social Care and Public Health directoratewith the primary aim of delivering an outstanding finance business partnering service.
Regulatory Compliance
: You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation affecting local government finance and service delivery including legislation affecting Adult Social Care Services.
Experience
: You will have proven experience of advising and supporting senior managers on key strategic matters relating to finance including undertaking complex financial calculations, options appraisals, sensitivity analysis and variance analysis.
Communication:
You will connect better possessing excellent communication skills with an ability toexplain and accurately present complex financial information that non-financial professionals can understand and have confidence in.
Performance Management
: You will embrace difference and think bigger to drive the team to deliver continuous improvement to ensure that reliable and robust financial information is provided to support decision making and financial reporting.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- CCAB qualified or have relevant experience in an accounting role in local government preferably within Adult Social Care.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of services provided.
- Experience of providing advice to secure effective delivery and value for money across the directorate and communicate complex financial issues to all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks to deliver on service goals and ambitions is a must
- Proficient IT skills to use spreadsheets, financial systems and other relevant packages for analysis and presentation.
