Seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a well-established finance team on a 12-month contract. This role is pivotal in supporting our finance department, ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Support the finance team in monitoring and managing budgets, ensuring accurate allocation and tracking of funds.
- Integrity of accounting information in the Nominal Ledger and supporting accounting records.
- Commentary on variances from budget/forecast, as well as producing future forecasts, budgets and assisting with month and year-end accounting.
- Preparing direct debt payment schedules for debtors and ensuring it is collected in a timely manner
- Assist in the production of monthly management accounts to strict deadlines.
- Balance Sheet Nominal coding
- Prepare regular financial reports and summaries for review by senior management.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Assist in the processing of payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payment to staff.
- Help prepare documents and records for internal and external audits.
What you’ll need to succeed
• Holds a minimum of five GCSEs, one of which must be English and Maths.• Holds a minimum of AAT level 4 qualification.
• Significant record of relevant accounting experience with evidence of producing Management Accounts.
• Experience of dealing with customer enquiries, demands and complaints.
• Experience of managing month-end activities to strict deadlines
• Evidence of the ability to use one’s own initiative, work independently and take responsibility.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook and a recognised accounting software.
• Advanced user of Excel.
• Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and cope with heavy workloads.
• Evidence of good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to deal with issues in a discrete and confidential manner.
• Ability to work under pressure whilst coordinating conflicting deadlines.
