Forensic AD/Director: right-hand to Partner

    HAYS

Unique opportunity to take this full-service firm’s Forensic offering to the next stage

    Your new company

This opportunity is with a longstanding Hays client, who business-to-business we have supported since inception 50 years ago, and can testify to the position they hold in their market. They are a multi-offering, independent accountancy practice with equally longstanding client relationships which have been fostered on their people-focused, “real people” and honest business approach. This too is how they engage with the wider profession. The firm is on a 5 year plan to double revenue, which will be purely organic with no acquisitions.
For some years now a senior Partner in the firm has attracted forensic work and has been a testifying Expert. Matters cover a wide range across civil, commercial and criminal and encompass loss of profits/earnings, shareholder disputes, valuations, expert determinations, fraud/tax investigations and financial irregularities, and more. Ability to attract work has consistently been proven ,but due to capacity issues there is much more “low hanging fruit” that could be capitalised on were they to have the right in place. Their international networks are also a potential source of work, but again time restrictions have meant these have not yet fully been capitalised upon.
This therefore is a newly created post, to help take the forensic function to its next level.Your new role

This is a unique chance for an established Forensic Senior Manager/AD or possibly Director to really make their mark. It will be a genuinely collaborative opportunity working closely with the senior Partner concerned to consolidate, enhance and build out what the firm attract in Forensic Accounting. The Partner concerned has wider firm responsibilities, whereas your own role will be “total immersion” and you’ll have delivery capability from established, mixed-discipline accountants in the firm. Pureplay forensic staff can be hired as soon as the business is ready.
    What you’ll need to succeed

    • Naturally the firm is known in the SME end of the Forensic market so both your experience and indeed preference should be towards that scale of mandate.
    • You’ll be an emerging, UK-based forensic “general practitioner” able and happy to turn your hand one minute to a fraud investigation, the next minute to a shareholder dispute. Nonethless if there were a preference as to what you “major” in then the preference would be a lean towards investigations (while still being able to run commercial/civil cases.)
    • Business development will be a core part of this role but the strategy around that will be very much agreed between yourself and the Partner, and indeed as the full-time forensic expert your opinion and ideas are likely to be agreed upon. There will be budget to back this up, attending the necessary forums to get the firm’s brand more widely recognised
    • The firm have an exemplary Partner pathway program and if that’s your ambition you’ll be fully supported to get there.

Please note: you need full eligibility to work indefinitely in the UK (this firm do not sponsor) as well as track record in the London/UK forensic market.
    What you’ll get in return

    • The chance to really carve out your own reputation away from the “glare” of a larger brand
    • Meaningful and impactful contribution to strategy
    • A well-balanced role between delivery and development
    • Being the first full-time “face of Forensics” the firm has had and becoming the firm-wide, network-wide go-to professional
    • Largely as yet untapped international memberships/networks which may well yield case potential
    • A fully supported , with SMART metrics and mentoring, pathway to Partner (if desired)
    • An ambitious yet realistic firm with an achievable 5-year growth strategy
