Functions Operative Needed!
Your new company?Our client is a London-based organisation in the heart of the city. Their research extends far beyond the city’s boundaries, making a positive contribution to the private, public, charity and community sectors across the capital and beyond.
Your new role?
As a functions operative, you will be responsible for setting up and breaking furniture layouts for state, City and private functions held in the Guildhall and other manual handling requirements around the Guildhall Complex.
Lay out tables, chairs, dias and other furniture or equipment required for each function to the clients specific requirement.
Breakdown and clear function area after events and return furniture to safe storage.
Participating in the continuous improvement of the service through implementation of specific changes/developments to support Business Planning.
Interpret and implement layout plans and other instructions for City and State functions at the Guildhall Complex.
Liaise with clients over amendments to the layout of accommodation of special requirements for functions on the day.
Safe storage and security of all Function and Ceremonial furniture, equipment.
To be conversant with and undertake all work in accordance with the City’s Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and City Surveyor’s Health and Safety and Departmental manuals.
Undertake specialist training in the use of electronic and hydraulic hoists on site to enable furniture transfer and for wheelchairs to facilitate the safe access of disabled persons to events by use of a chair.
Undertake specific health and safety training responsibilitys e.g. receiving training in specific or generic risk assessments to to become a designated risk assessor and thereafter undertake an agreed programme of assessments.
Meeting agreed individual and agreed group targets identified through the departmental appraisal system.
Actively seek to implement the City of London’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy in relation to the duties of the post, and at all times give due regard to the health and safety of both themselves and others when carrying out their duties.

To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested
appropriate to the grade
Attendance at major functions outside core working hours whilst meeting the requirements of the function/event.
Occasional weekend working to support events and functions.
What you’ll need to succeed?
To Succeed in the role you will need to require the relevant experience in a facilities & functions operation, ideally in a corporate office environment.
Flexibility
Able to work long hours ( 6am-2pm or 10am-6pm)
Porter experience
Experience in a fast paced environment.
Work well under pressure
Team leader experience
Events experience
IT illiterate
Prepared for busy seasonal events September-November
