    Hays are currently recruiting a Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. We are working in partnership with a world-leading design, engineering and project management organisation dedicated to engineering a better future for everyone.     Your new role

    As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, develop your experience and support the wider team.The candidate will be expected to hold a key role in our Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Discipline teams. You will perform numerical modelling using advanced modelling software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D etc) and analyse results. Validate geotechnical numerical analysis and numerical model calibration. Process geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment.

    What you’ll need to succeed

    To be successful in the Geotechnical Engineer role, you must have the following qualifications and skills:

  • With a strong engineering academic background, ideally with a PhD or an M.Sc. degree
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
  • 5 to 10 years UK experience in a relevant field
  • With excellent experience using modelling software
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Strong interest in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues within the geotechnical team.
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
  • Working towards or holding Chartered status.
  • A valid UK driving licence
