    A Snapshot of your Day:

Siemens Energy is looking for an experienced mechanical or aerospace engineer with background in Structural Integrity and Aeromechanics to lead technology programs in support of existing and new Large Gas Turbine designs.

The Technology group is responsible for developing the advanced failure prediction methods for materials at high temperatures.  We are seeking candidates with a research background in failure analysis and structural integrity who enjoy solving problems and coming up with innovative solutions to unique problems.  As part of a global support team, you will be working on a wide range of applications to develop life prediction methods which have a direct impact on company decisions.

Your daily work will include development and validation of new methods, coordinating both standard and innovative material testing, and creating new calculation codes to test application on FEA results with complex loading.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

    • Planning, developing, and implementing gas turbine mechanical integrity and component lifing technologies
    • Evaluation of new and old designs to identify testing and calculation requirements necessary for continuously improve life predictions such as fatigue, creep, and fracture mechanics
    • Developing new life calculation methods to capture the complex thermal and mechanical loading exhibited in turbine blades and vanes
    • Developing advanced damping methods for turbine blades and validation approach
    • FEA application of anisotropic and inelastic properties to sub and component models for testing methods and properties
    • Statistical curve fitting of test data and assessment of data distribution impact on component designs
    • Probabilistic evaluations of full calculation process, including variations in material properties, component loading, and engine operation to define appropriate safety margins
    • Conducting fleet validation of new methods and properties for maturity to design utilization
    • Coordination of work packages with required interface teams in matrix organization
    • Preparation of Engineering documents and presentation of technical results
    • Ensuring overall success of design projects for time, cost and quality

    What You Bring
