Operations Controller – Kettering £18 Per Hour (equivalent to £36,000)4 on 4 off – Nights (18:00 – 6:00)We are helping seek a experienced Operations Controller to join a busy logistics and transport team at a leading national distribution business on a temp to perm contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing drivers, vehicles, and schedules to ensure smooth operational performance, compliance, and service excellence.This role is vital in maintaining efficient site operations, ensuring legal and safety standards are met, and supporting overall transport and warehouse coordination within a fast-paced 24/7 logistics environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the outbound schedule to ensure collections and deliveries meet agreed timescales.
- Issue clear instructions to staff to maintain a steady flow of inbound and outbound work.
- Control and verify outbound paperwork to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Manage international inbound schedules to maintain adherence and minimise demurrage risk.
- Complete and check all required despatch documentation accurately and promptly.
- Communicate operational issues to the Shift Manager to minimise disruption.
- Liaise with the transport department to ensure consistent trailer flow and scheduling efficiency.
- Maintain effective communication with transport providers to avoid late collections or delivery failures.
- Provide detailed shift handovers highlighting any potential issues, reminders, and operational updates.
- Support the Shift Manager in maintaining compliance with company procedures, H&S policies, and legal requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to enhance efficiency, customer service, and process reliability.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience within the logistics, transport, or distribution sector.
- Good understanding of Working Time Directive (WTD) and EU driver hours regulations.
- Familiarity with logistics systems, such as GTS or equivalent.
- International/ national CPC would be advantageous
