    Principal Structural Engineer based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester

    Your new company

    Your new company is a family-orientated engineering consultancy with an established client base across a range of interesting sectors; commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial, education and waste. Based in Altrincham, they have around 50 employees across their building structures, highway structures, civils and geo-technical divisions with plans to continue growing over the next few years.

    Your new role

    Your new role will see you joining the company as a Principal Structural Engineer, making a significant contribution to the day-to-day preparation and delivery of technical design information. Contribution to the detailed design and overall project management of buildings made with steel, concrete, masonry and timber will be your main duty.

    You will also maintain existing client relationships, built on high-quality solutions and contribute to bringing in new projects and helping to put bids together. Supervising and developing a wider team will also be expected.

    What you’ll need to succeed

    In order to succeed you will need at a BEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, and around 10 years of relevant industry experience. Detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing using relevant UK and European codes. Experience with structural design and analysis software Tekla Tedds will be essential, and a working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit.

    Though chartership with either the ICE or IStructE is not a requirement, it is desirable and in order to access the higher level of salary banding. For those engineers without the professional qualification, ongoing support and mentoring will be provided by directors in the office.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to aid in the internal and external management of staff and clients.
