A Snapshot of Your Day
As Product Safety Officer (f/m/d) in the Business Area EQS Team it will be your responsibility to maintain an effective Global Product Safety Management System for one Execution Unit with focus on global processes, defining product- and business-specific product safety related requirements and standards, and maintaining oversight of the global development projects from the Siemens Energy Product Safety Community. In addition, you guide and lead the organization on global level in the planning, execution, ongoing analysis, and improvement of product safety related measures with the help of audits and gap analysis.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Maintain and further develop the Product Safety System of an organizational unit, including support in the preparation of process instructions across the business relevant to product safety, and throughout the product lifecycle
- Ensure effective systems are in place for product conformity. Identify the need for the appointment of key subject matter experts (SMEs) to support the business in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and technical standards for product safety as applicable to business area products
- Collaborate with Quality Management in the planning and execution of internal audits, ensuring all aspects of the implemented Product Safety Management system are covered
- Identify training needs, provide, and recommend training in the business regarding Product Safety for the organisation to foster the safety and quality culture and awareness
- Ensure effective systems are in place for product monitoring and to capture, evaluate and manage potential product safety issues for products already in service or placed on the market
- You conduct risk assessments and lead investigations in case of product safety related non-conformities. You ascertain a comprehensive analysis, close collaboration with the legal, service and communication department and ensure clear and transparent information to the customers, if this is necessary
- Establishing, tracking, and reporting important metrics allocated to Product Safety
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering (in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, quality assurance or similar) as well as many years of relevant professional experience in quality and safety management ideally in the field of power grid industry
- Accustomed to working independently and exploring new specialist topics, as well as driving topics actively and in close collaboration with partners on all organizational levels
- Confidence in carrying out risk estimations and evaluations regarding industry products and ability to identify important interfaces and not lose sight of the overall process. (e.g. HAZOP / RAPEX / FMEA experience)
- Certified CE coordinator with practical experience in the conformity assessment of products to ensure a smooth and well-documented market access in the EU and around the world (e.g. CE/UKCA/EAC/KC conformity process)
- Creativity and utilization of experiences in organizational development by re-thinking processes, methods, and tools that already exist and deriving new methods, tools, and products out of it
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English, additional language skills like German are beneficial
