    NATIONAL TRUST

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to help shape and deliver the National Trust’s mitigation of impacts arising from the construction of Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station. We want a great communicator with versatile project management skills who can deliver successful outcomes across a range of landscape, wildlife, external partner and visitor focussed work.

What it’s like to work here:

You’ll be part of the Trust’s internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, archaeologists, building surveyors and project managers, you’ll be working with others to help make things happen. Your contractual place of work will be the National Trust office at Dunwich Heath, part of our Suffolk and Essex Coast Portfolio. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week.

    What you’ll be doing:

You’ll seek to mitigate impacts on people, land and nature arising from visitor pressure and displacement during construction of Sizewell C. You could be working with the team to coordinate surveying, monitoring, and practical habitat and species management, delivering landscape and infrastructure projects to focus visitors away from views impacted by construction as well as helping property staff enhance our visitor programme responding to the needs of our audience.

The success of the role requires effective engagement with Sizewell C and key partners, representing the organisation in external forums including maintaining awareness of opportunities to apply for a share of £200m of funds linked to the development. You’ll help keep track of deadlines, manage risk, and deliver at pace, within budget and in line with requirements of funders/investors. You’ll take responsibility for ensuring you maintain systems and records in accordance with the National Trust Project Management Framework.

    Who we’re looking for:

We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

    • experienced in managing projects with an environmental focus and understanding of delivering works in historically and ecologically sensitive environments.
    • experience and confidence to work alone and understand when to draw on the skills of others
    • experience of managing complex external partner relationships
    • ability to manage budgets and grants with and experience of procurement and leading external grant funds
    • a confident communicator, good at working with a wide range of people both internally and externally
    • focused on giving a great service to your clients, using your skills to understand, influence, negotiate and find solutions
    • adept at managing your time, costs and quality with a busy and varied workload, with some experience of managing small projects.
    • a champion of inclusion, who helps support everyone to feel welcome

    The package:

The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
