Your new role
You will be pioneering the development of a new team within the Automotive and Industrial department and will be joining as a Staff Release Test Software Engineer, at a senior level. During your day-to-day work, you will spearhead release engineering and branch management, which are essential to producing firmware releases. This role involves providing tested releases of production-quality downstream firmware to partners, developing release plans in collaboration with various stakeholders, and documenting release notes while effectively communicating them to internal and external collaborators. Additionally, managing the entire release process, including branch management and all aspects of software version control, will be fundamental to your daily tasks. Finally, developing CI pipelines for downstream firmware release processes as a means to streamline and automate the workflow.There are two positions available based at either Manchester or Bristol.
What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate experience with release management, and evidence test automation for the product quality of release software. You should be proficient in the use of one of the following applications: Bazel, Blaze or Yocto SDK. Finally, you should demonstrate experience in software building and build management, for official downstream software and formal releases. Additionally, skills that are desirable but not essential to the role include experience in defect triaging and managing defects during system software releases, knowledge of open-source projects like the Linux Kernel, TF-A, TF-M, and Uboot. Exposure to using sphinx for generating documentation.
