    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in Bedfordshire. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with diverse needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, ensuring their individual learning and emotional needs are met.
    • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and activities.
    • Support students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties.
    • Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
    • Encourage social interaction and help develop students’ communication and life skills.
    • Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals to monitor progress and adjust support where necessary.
    • Assist with personal care where applicable, including toileting and mobility support.
    • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or care setting.
    • Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies for supporting children with these needs.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
    • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
    • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

    Desirable:

    • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
    • Experience with communication systems such as Makaton or PECS.
    • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and experience implementing them in a school setting.
