Siemens Energy is seeking a Service Software Engineer for
our Electrification Automation Digitalization (EAD) Marine Solution business in
Milan. This unique role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic and rapidly
growing Operation Center Engineering & Service Team. You will play an
integral role in supporting the team through various design activities, with a
strong focus on commissioning, warranty, and after-sales support. As a Service
Software Engineer, you’ll get to design, program, simulate, test, commission,
maintain, and optimize automation systems connected to generators, drives, and
energy storages, including Lion Lithium batteries and Fuel cells.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- You
will be involved in developing and applying technologies to supervise and
control power management and hybrid propulsion systems for inland water
ferries and the yachts’ market; your above knowledge shall support to
maintain and upgrade to the latest technical requirements our marine
installed base! - Understand
and meet the technical requirements of clients and ranking authorities. - Maintain
and upgrade software for propulsion and power generation systems, ensuring
they meet the latest technical specifications. - Deliver
outstanding customer support remotely and on-site, from initial requests
to the completion of activities, including issuing technical reports and
proposing system improvements. - Participate
in system tests at the factory to validate systems before installation. - Actively
participate in commissioning at customer sites. - During
the warranty phase, analyze system performance, improve functionality, and
ensure the delivery of high-quality systems to customers. - Take
initiative in improving processes and quality, embodying a critical and
continuous improvement attitude. - Represent
Siemens Energy professionally, providing world-class customer service in
line with our vision and values.
What You Bring
- A
high school diploma or equivalent experience, or a degree in engineering
automation and control. - You
should have at least 4 years of work experience in similar fields. You
should also have proven skills in developing software for HMI panels and
PLC automation software using high-level languages (SCL). - Advanced
knowledge of Simatic Manager, TIA Portal, CAN Bus, Profinet, Profibus, and
MOD-Bus. - Understanding
of hybrid propulsion systems in marine applications, integrating
traditional power sources with electric propulsion systems. - Familiarity
with CAD CAE software such as EPLAN and Autodesk AutoCAD. - Knowledge
of variable frequency drives, synchronous and asynchronous motors, control
systems theory for inland DC grids, low voltage distribution grids, and
battery systems. - Ability
to interpret and understand circuit diagrams. - Proven
ability to resolve technical issues efficiently during installation and
commissioning. - Strong
communication skills to convey technical information clearly through
written reports. - Excellent
customer management skills with a proven ability to understand client
needs and provide responsive service. - Proficiency
in English, with a willingness to learn Italian in the short-to-medium
term. - Ability
to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and diverse team, including
colleagues from various countries. - Willingness
to travel frequently within Italy and abroad, with travel comprising about
70% of work time. - A
valid B driving license or international equivalent.
