CITY & COUNTY OF SWANSEA
Foster Wales Swansea aims to provide quality care for children and young people who are looked after by Swansea City Council. We recruit, approve and support carers to provide stable and caring homes for any child who cannot be cared for by their family. We are a large team of 22 staff that include 18 social workers, 3 support workers and a business development officer, as well as other business support staff. In Foster Wales Swansea we work in partnership with the child, those with parental responsibility and foster carers in an open an honest way. We are child centred in our values and strive to support our foster carers to provide safe and loving homes enabling children to reach their potential.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for motivated, experienced individuals who are passionate about supporting and advocating for foster carers and our care experienced children. We promote a strength-based approach of working through the ‘signs of safety’ model and work in collaboration with foster carers, families, children and young people.
Part of your role will be to assess and supervise foster carers, have good analytical skills and assessment writing. As a fostering Social Worker you will be completing recruitment form F assessments, alongside holding a caseload of foster carers, providing supervision and support. Previous foster care experience is desirable but not essential. It is also important that you have a sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
We recognise the importance of learning from each other and promote our teams to be office based 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). We’re lucky enough to have an office that boasts fantastic sea views of Mumbles and Swansea Bay, as well as being a short walk into the city centre and close proximity to five parks and gardens that have green flag status, perfect for lunchtime walks or after work strolls.
