    A Snapshot of Your Day
In the course of the energy transition, the optimization of high-voltage cable connections is of critical importance. Traditional calculation methods tend to overestimate eddy current losses, leading to an over-dimensioning of cable systems. More precise calculations using FEM can help reduce cable cross-sections, thereby saving costs and resources. This aligns with Siemens Energy’s commitment to sustainability.
This bachelor’s / master’s thesis aims to conduct a detailed comparison between the calculation method according to IEC 60287 and the Finite Element Method (FEM) using COMSOL Multiphysics to analyze eddy current losses in high voltage cables.
