Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) is a life-saving charity. We work to save lives, reduce and prevent disability, and reduce suffering from critical illness and injury, by delivering a first-class pre-hospital emergency medical service to the people of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

The Essex Air Ambulance was launched in 1998 as a double paramedic service and became the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) in April 2007. Since the introduction of doctors in 2008, our aim is to bring the hospital to the patient when they need it the most. We have over 60 clinicians and air crew members who operate out of our two airbases; the recently refurbished Earls Colne and our state-of-the-art new airbase in North Weald. Our two charity offices in both locations employ circa 90 passionate staff, with a close, family-style culture and we have over 450 dedicated volunteers. EHAAT also runs nine charity shops spread throughout the region together with a donations centre based in Stevenage, all operating through a mixture of paid staff and volunteers.

The Trustee role at EHAAT is a hugely exciting one. Unlike NHS emergency services, EHAAT is a charity providing a free life-saving service, 24/7, by helicopters and by rapid response vehicles. As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role to ensure that we continue to deliver our life-saving service. We are an exciting and complex organisation, with clinical, aviation, charity and retail teams.

The role of Trustee will be to support EHAAT’s continued growth and to help drive the charity forward, shaping our strategy for the future.

We are seeking two Trustees who have:

    • A commitment to EHAAT, its vision and values
    • Commercial experience in a leadership capacity at a similar or larger organisation
    • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship
    • Desirable for at least one of the appointees: an accountancy qualification

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust is committed to achieving greater diversity across the team, and welcome applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, sexuality, belief or disability.
