A Snapshot of Your Day
As a vibration engineer you will be part of ensuring reliable energy generation by supporting ongoing operations and testing of Siemens Energy rotating machinery. You will contribute to design augmentation and thus aid in making our equipment more robust and efficient. You will measure, analyze, and verify vibration behavior and use this data to troubleshoot standard or prototype units and components in our products. You will familiarize yourself with electrical distribution systems, control system set up and other vital measurement chain cabling related to our systems. You will provide support during engine start up, either at a test bed or on site after an overhaul.
How You’ll Make an Impact

Participate in investigating and resolving engineering and technical discrepancies arising from deviating vibration behavior.

Preside, supervise, and approve the Start-Up of Gas/steam turbines and generators and offer valuable expertise for our prototype machines and customer units.

Provide remote technical assistance to Siemens Energy field activities.

Retain good customer relations and deliver on the promise of reliability of our machines and services.

Participate in product improvement workshops by providing feedback to R&D teams that would enable future improvements of our products.

Conduct hands-on execution of engine preparation activities adhering to technical specifications stated for performing a particular test scheme.
All these tasks will be done in compliance with regulations pertaining to Environment, Health and Safety laws in the region, within the scope of own responsibility.
What You Bring
-
Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Thermal, Aero or Electrical Engineering field is preferred) OR bachelor’s with relevant practical work experience operating and maintaining heavy machinery in a refinery /chemical plant/ energy generation and distribution plant or similar.

Available to accommodate travel to site as required on short notice. The job entails around 110 days of travel per year. Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Sweden without need for employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current work permit sponsorship are eligible for internal transfers.

Proven experience of working with electrical distribution systems, control system set up and relevant vital measurement chains. Practical hands-on experience in electrical and interfacing mechanical systems are advantageous.

Experience with conducting signal analysis or similar for data acquisition is valuable.

Broad knowledge of rotating/heavy machinery system design, construction, and operation. A familiarity with ASME standards and capability to follow fluid, mechanical and electrical drawings, and schemes.

Awareness or proven experience in carrying out pre-commissioning and installation activities.

Curiosity about new technological advancements and engineering challenges. Willingness to learn and adapt to new information and knowledge attained from colleagues across several fields and regions.

Self-driven with a problem-solving attitude to achieve successful plant start-up by maintaining good interpersonal and self-management skills.
