Whether you’re studying for a degree, completing an apprenticeship, or just starting out, the IET Future Talent Awards can help you take the next step. We believe talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn’t. That’s why we’re committed to supporting future engineers from all backgrounds to overcome barriers and realise their potential.
There are two types:
Launch Scholarship
- £1,500 per year for up to four years
- For students, apprentices and degree apprentices in any year of study
- Designed for those who’ve faced financial or personal challenges
Boost Scholarship
- £1,500 per year for up to two years.
- For students in the final year of a BEng or the last two years of an MEng IET-
accredited degree or degree apprenticeship. - Applicants must have achieved 70% or above at the end of their 2nd or 3rd year.
Both scholarships are supported by donors who believe engineering’s power to change lives.

As a Future Talent Award recipient, you’ll receive:
- Financial support to help ease the pressure.
- Free IET Student Membership (if not already provided by your university).
- Access to professional development opportunities.
- The chance to connect with other scholars and become part of a supportive
community.
Who can apply?
You must:
- Be a UK resident for at least three years at the time of applying.
- Be studying (or about to start) an IET-accredited degree or apprenticeship.
- Meet the specific criteria for either the Launch or Boost Scholarship.
Not open to international students or MSc qualifications. Check your course before applying
here.
